I’m sure you’ve noticed more natural and green personal care products on store shelves these days. A few years ago many stores didn’t even carry them, but now you can find them very easily. Since more and more consumers are becoming aware of how the products we use impact our health, cosmetic companies have begun to bring an increasing number of natural and organic products to market.

But as a discerning consumer you’ll have to be careful what “green” really means. Some consumers wonder if these green products perform as well as traditional skin care products. Glimpse Topical Skin Nutrition clearly does. Combining BioActive X3 Complex™ and other beneficial natural ingredients, they give your skin anti-aging care without any of the harmful side-effects of unwanted chemicals.

Our skin care expert Misha Hughes recently wrote about “green beauty” for Inside Cosmeceuticals. Click here to read her article.

1-) I heard Glimpse Skin Care is a brand with green focus. But what exactly does “green focus” mean?
XANGO selects ingredients from natural sources as much as possible. In addition, XANGO takes extra steps to make sure each ingredient is clean of hidden additives, chemicals or toxins. Upon manufacturing Glimpse, XANGO uses a special blending technology called cold processing, reducing carbon emissions which could negatively impact the environment. Additionally, cold processing enhances the efficacy of the product by supporting the nutrient integrity of the performance ingredients within the formulations.

2-) Is Glimpse Skin Care organic?
No. Currently there is no global certification on organic products. XANGO has not gone this direction. XANGO does, however, source ingredients from credible suppliers that produce their botanical ingredients under sustainable conditions.

Hi Beverly,

I had the privilege of meeting you at convention in Salt Lake last fall and your graciousness and kindness exudes as you speak.

I would like to tell you my story. I am 65 years of age, a mom and a grandma. I have never been able to use any skin care products throughout my life. In fact about one year before I was introduced to Glimpse, I was at a woman’s show and in watching a demonstration I decided to give it “one last try”. I purchased five products and the various ingredients included minerals from the dead sea for a cost of almost $1,000.00. This was on a Saturday and by the following Tuesday my face was red, swollen and very itchy. Within five days I tried to return the product and the company would not refund my money. Instead they replaced the products with other products which “should be better for my skin”. It took approximately two weeks for my skin to look normal again and I could not bring myself to use the products given to me. I was extremely skeptical when I began using glimpse.

“WOW” GLIMPSE IS AMAZING, my skin feels so fresh and clean. Thank you and XANGO for such an amazing product.

Now we have another amazing line, JUNI. Again, only able to use lotions sparingly and not regularly, I am totally hooked. I described it to a friend as “the closest thing to heaven on this earth” when one applies lotion after a bath/shower and climbs into my cozy bed, my body feels like silk. Again, thank you.

Last week I introduced Juni to a friend who has two beautiful young daughters. The product was ordered Monday evening and she received her package on Friday – that alone impressed her. When I spoke with her about using the products, she told me she had specifically purchased the shampoo and conditioner for her two daughters. They both have beautiful long blond hair and are the sweetest girls. I can’t wait to hear “their story” on Juni.

Again, thank you for your hard work in bringing products that are outstanding and superior to anything on the market.

I look forward to the opportunity to say “Hello” in Vegas.

Marlene

REGIMEN MODIFICATIONS for TYPICALLY DRY SKIN

AM Glimpse Regimen for typically Dry Skin

Cleanse – using Glimpse Creamy Cleanser (another option would be to use a two-thirds to one-third mixture of Gel Cleanser to Creamy Cleanser) – using a quarter-sized amount of cleanser smooth over face neck and chest. Continue to massage the cleanser over your skin for at least 2 minutes paying particular attention to your forehead, hairline, chin, jaw line and crevices of the nose. Remove cleanser with a clean cotton washcloth then rinse by splashing your face, neck, and chest with tepid water. Use a fresh cotton towel to pat your skin dry.

Tone – Use of the Glimpse Toner is not only an opportunity to saturate your skin with BioActiveX3 particularly the Polymeric Complex, it also provides a layer of additional hydration. Two sprays for your face and an additional spray for your neck and chest followed immediately by the Serum/Pericarp Oil mixture will help keep your skin feeling hydrated throughout the day.

Treat – In the palm of your hand mix together three pumps Serum and 10 -15 drops Pericarp Oil apply to face and neck. If you would like to treat your chest which I recommend you will need more product. It is critical for someone with a dry skin condition to move from Toning the skin, to Treating the skin, to Hydrating the skin without hesitation in order to capitalize on the layering of nutrients and hydration. For an excellent eye treatment mix one drop Pericarp Oil, one pump Serum, and one pump Moisturizing Cream apply above the Orbital bone (upper cheek bone under the eye) and up under the eye and up to the brow bone, do not take this over the lid of your eye.

Hydrate – Apply two pumps Moisturizing Lotion (yes the lotion, there are several ingredients in the lotion that will help with dry skin, Salicylol Phytosphingosine is one of them, the trick is not to overdo it) to your face and neck, if you want to treat your chest you will need one more pump. Next apply three pumps of Moisturizing Cream to face and neck, again if you want to treat your chest you will need more product.

Repair – Apply the Mineral Treatment for dry skin I recommend the Creamy application as opposed to the Dry. Experiment with the product find out what works for you best. If you are unfamiliar with the flexibility of this formula and have questions on application techniques please see Mineral Treatment application techniques under the Mineral Treatment or Video section of this blog.

PM Glimpse Regimen for typically Dry Skin:

Double Cleanse – using Glimpse Creamy Cleanser followed by Glimpse Gel Cleanser or the Cream/Gel mixture described in the AM Regimen Step 1. If you are unfamiliar with a double cleansing, you are in for a treat. This simple addition to your regimen will dramatically improve any skin condition and I highly recommend making it part of your evening ritual. To perform a double cleanse begin with Glimpse Creamy Cleanser for your first cleanse, use a quarter sized amount (you may need a bit more) work between your hands and smooth onto your skin. Massage the cleanser over your skin for at least 2 minutes paying particular attention to the congested areas of your face and neck. Remove cleanser with a clean cotton washcloth and follow immediately with a second cleanse using the Creamy Cleanser, Gel Cleanser, or the Creamy/Gel mixture.

Treat – In the palm of your hand mix together 3 pumps serum and 15 drops (or more) Pericarp Oil, smooth over face and neck, you will need more product to treat your chest.

Hydrate – Repeat step 4 from your AM Regimen, if you need extra hydration add an additional layer of Moisturizing Cream.

Remember, your skin is a very dynamic organ and what it needs varies from day to day. When you have become familiar with the formulas you will naturally start adjusting your mixtures, customizing them to deliver to your skin what it needs now.

In the mid-70’s it was thought that the Stratum Corneum (SC), the outermost layer of your epidermis and your skin’s barrier, was biologically inert seen as something similar to a thin sheet of plastic covering the body. Over the last 30 years in particular the past 5 years scientists have discovered the biological and chemical activity of the SC is incredibly intricate and complex. Understanding the structure and function of our barrier is important because it is the key to healthy skin. Hydration is absolutely essential for proper functioning of the skin particularly the SC. The retention of water (hydration) in the skin is reliant upon two major factors, the presence of natural moisturizing factor (NMF) and proper barrier function to reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Why is this important to you? If you have skin that is typically dry, it is critical that your skin care regimen address both of these issues in order to deliver results. I not only believe that Glimpse thoroughly addresses each of these key issue for typically dry skin it does it without the use of silicones, mineral oil, or lanolin. BioActive X3 works in harmony with Niacinamide and Glucosamine to support your skin’s barrier 1, 2, 3. Additionally Glimpse cleansers are sulfate free, sulfates can aggravate a dry skin condition.

Please keep in mind that the various Glimpse regimen modifications are just one way you may adjust your daily regimen to address your current skin condition, there are numerous ways to customize your regimen to achieve your best skin.

Remember, your skin is a very dynamic organ and what it needs varies from day to day. When you have become familiar with the formulas you will naturally start adjusting your mixtures, customizing them to deliver to your skin what it needs now.

In consideration of us all developing our “skin whispering” skills, I do think some general classifications would be very helpful. Some of you may be familiar with the Fitzpatrick Skin Type scale; for others this will be new information. Fitzpatrick Skin Types categorize skin by color and determine how a skin type responds to the sun (through the amount of melanin present in the skin). This scale is used by dermatologists and some aestheticians to determine what an appropriate treatment would be for an individual, from lasers to facial peeling. We will use it to help us recognize some of our possible predispositions and how we can combat those concerns with our skin care regimen. The Fitzpatrick Skin Type classifications range from 1 to 6. Type 1 is very fair and is very susceptible to sun burns, while Type 6 is very dark, tans deeply, and never burns.

Why do I think this information is helpful? Although the descriptions listed may not perfectly fit us and are admittedly a bit static, they do provide a bit of insight into typical key concerns for that particular type. Each type’s key concerns are listed in the chart below, but when reviewing this information and applying it to yourself or a friend, please keep in mind the uniqueness of each individual’s complexion.

Again these are typical concerns—there are always exceptions. The condition of your skin is influenced not only by your genetic code (internal or intrinsic factors) but also by your lifestyle (external or extrinsic factors). Please keep in mind that your skin is easily influenced by your diet, stress, sleep, exercise (or lack of it), and of course your daily UV exposure.

Okay, now let’s take this information and apply it. I will use myself as an example, I am a Type 1 I am prone to redness and sensitivity – I can develop a rash very easily and I experience irritated breakout. Additionally more often than not – if I am caring for my skin properly – I tend to have plenty of naturally occurring oils. If my skin is dry and tight I know that I have done something incorrectly. My Glimpse morning regimen is cleansing with the gel then I mix one spray of Toner with three pumps of Serum and 5-10 drops Pericarp Oil. I wait a few minutes to let that absorb then I apply one pump Serum to one pump Lotion to my face then one more pump Serum two pumps Lotion and two pumps Cream to my neck and chest. For the evening I cleanse with two-thirds/one-third combination of Gel to Cream Cleanser for both of my cleanses (I have to say this is my favorite cleanse it is amazing) then one spray Toner mixed with three pumps Serum and 5-20 drops of Pericarp Oil. Then one pump Serum and one pump Lotion for my face then my Serum, Lotion, Cream combo for my face neck and chest also I apply this combination around my eyes. I am sure for summer I will make a few adjustments as my skin tends to produce more oil for the warmer months (and this is true for most individuals).

Would one more example be helpful? Let’s use Jessica, Jess is a Type 2 has very sensitive skin and tends to hyperpigment when it is extremely aggravated and with excessive UV exposure. Jessica can also experience irritated breakout but her skin is usually quite dry as opposed to mine that is usually oily. I want to point this out because if your skin is dry or even if it is usually olily and is dry due to external factors you will notice more activity from your products. Jessica’s Glimpse morning regimen is cleanse in the morning with the two-thirds Gel Cleanser to one-third Cream Cleanser, one spray of toner, one pump serum mixed with 3 drops Pericarp Oil for face only, then four pumps Moisturizing Cream over face, neck, and chest wait for several minutes if she needs it she applies another layer of cream. For her evening regimen She cleanses with the Gel/Cream combination twice, then applies one spray Toner, two pumps Serum, three drops Pericarp Oil, and three pumps Cream to face, neck, and chest waits several minutes and applies four pumps of cream to face, neck, and chest.

My hope is that you find this information helpful in assessing your skin’s needs and meeting those needs with the flexible, clean performance in Glimpse.

In the time since we launched Glimpse Skin Care there is one question that I hear (or read) from you more than any other—“What type of skin do you think I have?”

I thought I would take a moment now to share my thoughts on “skin typing.”

You may have heard me mention on occasion that the skin is a dynamic organ, and it is lucky for us that it is. Our skin has to accommodate stress that is placed upon it both from external and internal factors every minute of every day. With that, there are as many skin “types” as there are people on the earth, with each complexion being as unique as the individual. To assign a specific “type” to our skin will inevitably put us at a disadvantage when caring for it. Certainly our skin has a tendency to either be oily or dry, but oily skin can become dry and vice versa. Moreover, oily skin can be sensitive and dry skin can suffer from hormonal breakouts.

So, where am I going with all this? Simply that, although we may have what I will call a dominant skin condition, our skin changes—sometimes on a daily basis. We need a skin care regimen that can adapt to those changes and still deliver what our skin needs in order to look its best. Glimpse’s clean, well-rounded formulations were created to work with your skin. Use the formulas as they are or mix them to create your own blend to address your skin needs in that moment.

Over the past seven-plus years, our not-so-small-anymore former startup company has made some amazing breakthroughs and reached unprecedented successes. Before XANGO, who knew what a mangosteen was? Did you?

But think about this, in 2008, mangosteen was quoted as the “most copied superfruit” at the Natural Product Expo – one of the industry’s largest tradeshows. Now, it seems that in 2010 the “Queen of Fruits” has claimed her rightful place in the upper echelon of must-have fruits: January’s People magazine named mangosteen as one of the “Hot Food Trends of 2010.” We’re glad they finally caught up to us, because we’ve known about it for years!

With Glimpse, we created a topical skin nutrition companion product to complement the internal support provided from our XANGO Juice. Glimpse is mangosteen-based skin care with a twist – non-toxic and safety-conscious formulation. We put just as much focus on what went into our topical nutrition product as what didn’t—no toxic chemicals allowed! In my previous article I mentioned several common culprits found in everyday skin, hair and body care products; phthalates, parabens, synthetic fragrance, and surfactant byproducts.

The alternative ingredients and monumental measures are complicated but definitely worth the effort. You deserve the best XANGO has to offer! Here are some super-star ingredients you will find in Glimpse, just to give you an idea:

Use of natural antioxidants and botanical preservatives: we combine botanical preservatives such as gluconolactone (corn-based) with well known antioxidants – tocopherol (vitamin E) and let us not forget the mangosteen-based BioActive X3 Complex with the, scientifically proven, highest antioxidant power we’ve seen in personal care products!

Use of botanical oils, pure essential oils for skin benefits and natural fragrance: grapefruits, lemongrass, rosewood, orange, bergamot, basil, cucumber, jojoba and more – not only do they provide natural scent to each product, they provide various skin benefits including moisture, nourishment, hydration and detoxification.

Use of quality packaging to maintain freshness and efficacy of phytonutrients. That’s right…the pumps are airless—to prevent deterioration or contamination of the formula.

We’re proud of our Glimpse formulations and have nothing to hide. Click here to find a full glossary of Glimpse ingredients found on our website. We believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

Rest assured, XANGO takes the extra steps to ensure safety and efficacy giving your skin a performance workout in every application. So no worries on toxic chemicals, just enjoy the powerful anti-aging benefits on your skin!

I have been completely won over by the Glimpse Intuitive Skin Care line by XANGO!

In a former life I sold John Robert Powers cosmetics in the 1960’s, offered only in exclusive Department Stores. It was a beautiful, high quality line and fully committed to customer service. But unlike Glimpse was not ‘performance’ driven.

Unsatisfied ever since, I welcomed this skin care and was very excited to give it a try. This is my story….

As many of you know, I started Glimpse when it became available in November of 2008. My litmus test was to see if Glimpse would tackle an age spot that had appeared next to my left eye some years ago and had been told it was ‘pre-cancerous’. As it grew and darkened, the texture changed as well, becoming rough and somewhat raised. It had gotten more and more difficult to cover with make-up.

I have to tell you I was disappointed for 2½ months! Nothing; oh, maybe a little lighter, but not much else. Frustrated, I scrubbed the area vigorously as I had with facial scrubs prior to using Glimpse. It was red and sore, so I babied it with good coatings of Glimpse serum and moisturizer. For good measure, put some XANGO juice on it too!

In Mid January, I saw some peeling from the center of the spot. Under that peeling was pink, healthy skin! The peeling spread from the center, a small bump was left and then a ridge at the further most edge. The ridge remained reddish and slightly swollen. I managed to obtain a bottle of pure Mangosteen Pericarp Oil and continued my regime of care including it on the area. Within the next few weeks the swelling abated as did the last of the redness. The dark, age spot is now completely gone!

You’ve known for some time that Glimpse Topical Skin Nutrition represents the perfect convergence of nature, time-honored techniques and advanced, customized technology. It is the culmination of our decades-long pursuit for optimal skin nutrition. The result is a natural, radiant and healthy-looking complexion. Recently, we were proud to receive certification of our efforts–Glimpse was recognized with the Natural Products Association seal of acceptance. XANGO is the first network marketing company to receive such approval for its products. This is just another way that XANGO is leading the industry. And now, for the first time, XANGO’s listing is available on the NPA web site database.

XANGO has made a conscious choice…the choice of not only creating a category, but of doing it the right way. We’ve made the chemical connection between the harmful toxins in the personal care products we use and potentially devastating diseases, and have chosen to take a different path. This latest recognition and listing of the NPA’s seal of approval signifies that the world also recognizes this as a more natural, healthy way.

So what does this mean? Simply put, the NPA’s strict standards state that all personal care products labeled or branded “natural” must be made with at least 95% all-natural ingredients and contain only synthetic ingredients specifically allowed under this standard that do not have suspected human health risks. Glimpse meets these strict requirements in every way providing your skin with a certified natural alternative. Our listing on their database is a valuable addition to your array of business-building tools. It validates Glimpse’s superior quality with credible, third-party approval.

Not quite sure what you’re supposed to do with the Glimpse Mineral Treatment brushes? Does the word “application” leave you scratching your head? Not to worry … you’re not alone. Even better, answers are headed your way. We’ll tell you what each brush is used for, what the best application method is for each and we’ll even explain, once and for all, what a Kabuki brush is! Look for a special informative 4-part article, coming soon to the Glimpse Blog.

1-) Kabuki Brush: This brush is most traditionally used when applying mineral powders and recommended when wanting a light-to-medium coverage. The soft, yet dense, bristles and tapered brush head are ideal for picking up powders easily and create a lovely, flawless finish. We suggest using this brush for your dry application of Glimpse Mineral Treatment or as a setting powder brush.

Directions:

Sprinkle a small amount of Mineral Treatment into the lid of your Glimpse Minerals jar.

Take your Glimpse Kabuki Brush and pick up the powder with the brush.

Tap off excess powder from the brush and apply to face in circular motion.

Apply more powder for desired coverage.

*Use the same way as directed above for a setting powder, using less of the minerals, and just lightly dusting.

This is Part One: The Kabuki Brush of the Master the Brushes series.

Glimpse and Acne

Many of us, myself included, have at one time or another experienced acne. In fact in the United States alone 40 to 50 million people suffer from acne. For some it may be a very temporary condition clearing as quickly as it appears. But for most it becomes a very stubborn skin condition that can be both physically and mentally scarring.

There are many factors that contribute to the development of acne but the key problems that occur in the pilosebaceous unit (the small lipid and hair producing areas and that make up your follicles or pores) are:

Hyperplasia – excessive lipid (oil) production.

Hyperkeratinization of the hair follicle – increased production of cells lining the follicle wall. The cells then fail to loosen away from the follicle wall this translates into a clogging of the follicle opening.

Proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes or P. acnes. You can have acne without the presence of P. acnes, however research has shown that it can be a contributing factor and may provoke and immune system response leading to increased inflammation.

As a result of the above listed conditions the follicle can then rupture and the bacteria and other debris that were trapped in the follicle spreads into the dermis causing more inflammation and oxidative stress.

These factors lead to open comedones (blackheads) and closed comedones (whiteheads). If inflammation is left unchecked, these minor skin eruptions can develop into papules and pustules. Finally, when inflammation occurs in the lower layers of the skin it becomes red and painful nodules. Upon reviewing the stages of acne you can see how critical it is to inhibit the inflammatory process.

The Glimpse regimen modifications listed below are just one way you may adjust your daily regimen to address your current skin condition, keep in mind there are numerous ways in which to customize your regimen to achieve your best skin.

AM Glimpse Regimen for Acne Prone Skin:

1.	Cleanse – using Glimpse Gel Cleanser – using a quarter-sized amount of cleanser and tepid water add a bit of water to the cleanser. Work hands together to create a purifying foam and apply to face, neck, and chest.

2.	Talk to your physician. – If you are currently using a topical prescription for acne that you apply in the morning do so now following the directions given by your physician, if you are not using a prescription proceed to step 3. Do not immediately discontinue use of acne prescriptions doing so could cause a flare up of the skin condition, that coupled with the introduction of a new product could cause a significant break-out. I do feel confident that with the consistent use of Glimpse morning and night you will be able to reduce if not discontinue the use of your topical prescriptions. However, acne-prone skin is inherently sensitive skin and therefore must be treated as such and we need to acclimate the skin to Glimpse and then ease it off prescription topicals.

3.	Treat – In the palm of your hand mix together one spray toner, 3 pumps serum, eight drops of Pericarp Oil smooth mixture over face and neck. For treating your neck and shoulders, which I recommend, you will need more of this mixture.

4.	Hydrate – Yes acne prone skin needs hydration! In the palm of your hand mix two pumps serum with 2 drops Pericarp Oil and 1-2 pumps Moisturizing Lotion. During summer months or in humid climates this last step may need to be adjusted but it is important to remember that even if you have lipid rich (oily) skin you still need hydration, you either need to apply a second layer of Serum/Pericarp Oil with the ratio being more Serum to Pericarp Oil rather than the equal parts mixture listed in step 3 or apply the lotion/serum mixture listed above.

5.	Repair – Using the Sheer Mineral Treatment mix a generous amount of Minerals in the palm of your hand with Pericarp Oil and one pump Serum, apply to affected areas. If you desire additional coverage apply one to three layers of the Minerals using the “Dry Application” technique (please see Mineral Treatment application techniques under the Mineral Treatment or Video section of this blog) over your Sheer Mineral/Pericarp Oil “primer”.

PM Glimpse Regimen for Acne Prone Skin:

1.	Double Cleanse – using Glimpse Creamy Cleanser followed by Glimpse Gel Cleanser or using the Glimpse Gel Cleanser for both cleanses. Follow the cleansing instructions for the AM Cleanse and repeat for the second cleanse, remember be gentle. Do not aggressively scrub at your face it will aggravate the condition. Your skin needs TLC in order to start healing. If you choose to use the Glimpse Creamy Cleanser for your first cleanse use a quarter sized amount (you may need a bit more) work between your hands and smooth onto your skin. Massage the cleanser over your skin for at least 2 minutes paying particular attention to the congested areas of your face and neck. Remove cleanser with a clean cotton washcloth and follow immediately with a second cleanse using the Glimpse Gel Cleanser.

2.	Talk to your physician. If you are currently using a topical prescription for acne that you apply in the evening do so now following the directions given by your physician, if you are not using a topical prescription proceed to step 3.

3.	Treat – In the palm of your hand mix together 3 pumps serum and 10 drops Pericarp oil, smooth over face and neck using a drop of Pericarp oil and any inflamed lesions you may have.

4.	Hydrate – Repeat step 4 from your AM Regimen.

5.	Repair – Repeat the Sheer Mineral Treatment/Pericarp Oil/Serum combination from your AM Regimen, do not apply additional layers of the Mineral Treatment using the “Dry” Method.

Please remember, your skin is a very dynamic organ and what it needs varies from day to day. When you have become familiar with the formulas you will naturally start adjusting your mixtures, customizing them to deliver to your skin what it needs at that moment.

Happy Holidays! I hope that you’ve been able to get enough Juni and Holiday XANGO Juice to go around this season—they seem to be the most popular XANGO gifts this year. And the reason they are in such high demand isn’t just because they’re full of fun XANGO branding and they come in pretty packages—what I personally find most attractive about them is the same protective philosophy that stands behind every XANGO product.

As I learn more about the detrimental effects of synthetic and petrochemical ingredients, I have to wonder who would ever knowingly let them enter their home. For example, take these questionable ingredients into consideration:

Silicones or Synthetic Wax — Your hair and skin may feel “silky smooth” initially, but you’re suffocating your skin and hair follicles with chemicals—yuck! Who wants to see their skin and hair become dull over time?

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate — You hear this name often. It’s been a nemesis of naturalists for decades, yet it still finds its way into many commercial products. Can you fathom using a common ingredient in engine degreasers, floor cleaners and detergents to clean your family’s skin, hair and teeth? It breaks down protein and strips your skin of natural, healthy oils; in fact, the only excuse for not choosing a natural alternative is that it’s “cheap.”

Synthetic Fragrance, Colors — FD&C colors, fragrances… some are suspected to be harmful, but they are still in use. While the manufacturer may defend their use by saying, “research findings are inconclusive,” do you really want anything questionable in daily contact with you and your family?

It’s good to know that with Glimpse or Juni you won’t have to worry about these unwanted chemicals. And we have our Beverly Hollister, Misha Hughes and the entire development team to thank for that! Both Glimpse Topical Skin Nutrition and Juni Family Care were created with nothing but your health & wellness in mind.

The gift of XANGO products for your family and friends goes beyond a simple “Season’s Greetings”—it says that you care about them, their health, their wellness and their happiness. So enjoy this season of joy and togetherness with XANGO!

P.S. Don’t miss XANGO Wassail recipe on elevivblog.com!

I have been getting many questions regarding the environmental protection ability of Glimpse or if Glimpse has an SPF rating.

First, what is SPF? Sun Protection Factor is simply a laboratory measure of the ability of a product to protect the skin when exposed to UVB radiation. UVB rays cause sunburn and are able to directly damage the DNA of your skin cells. The SPF of a product is not relevant to that product’s ability to protect the skin against UVA damage, which causes free radical formation and in-direct DNA damage.

Does Glimpse have an SPF rating, as of this moment, no. Is there a Glimpse product that contains a sun-blocking ingredient? Yes. Glimpse Mineral Treatment contains Zinc Oxide, which is known to have the broadest UV protection of any single ingredient. In addition Zinc Oxide has been shown to exhibit antioxidant activity and the ability to calm and soothe irritated or inflamed skin.

However, trying to block the sun’s rays is only partially effective at best. I believe that the importance of topical supplementation with antioxidants and additional nutrients is essential in maintaining the health of your skin. Each Glimpse formula (including The Mineral Treatment) contains BioActive X3, the antioxidant activity of which outperformed Resveratrol, CoQ10, and Ascorbic Acid*.

In conclusion, Glimpse does not currently have an SPF rating. However, it does contain concentrated levels of active ingredients proven to boost your skin’s natural immunity against environmental aggressors. Lastly, we do have a proven effective sun-blocking agent in the Glimpse Mineral Treatment.

*through third party testing.

First, let’s talk Glimpse usage. I cannot emphasize enough, how crucial it is to be using the proper amount of product in order to get the optimal benefits of Glimpse. For instance, if you are not using enough cleanser and getting a thorough cleanse, your skin will not be adequately prepared for whatever you put on thereafter (in fact you could be driving dirt, debris, and oil further into the skin).

Second, lets talk about good skin care habits. What is a good habit? A good habit is taking the time, everyday, to take care of your skin. It is truly so important to get into good skin care habits. For those of you new to skincare or those who are short on time, a 4 Step process may seem a bit overwhelming? I have a little tip that will help you simplify your routine. We like to call this the “Glimpse Cocktail”…

Glimpse Cocktail:

A.M./P.M.

Step #1: Cleanse with cleanser of choice (Creamy or Gel), making sure to use enough product to thoroughly cleanse your skin (about a quarter sized amount). Rinse thoroughly. We always recommend a double cleanse.

Step #2: In the palm of your hand, mix together, 2 pumps Serum, 4 pumps Lotion or Cream, 2 pumps Toner, and I like to do 2-3 drops Pericarp Oil. Apply to desired area, taking extra care to apply to your neck, and chest (or wherever you have exposed skin).

Simple, quick, and you still get all the same Topical Skin Nutrition and benefits.

So, whether you prefer the cocktail, the traditional application, or your own personalized Glimpse regimen, remember to do it everyday and make it a habit.

Until next time… Keep Glimpsing!
