My skin is very sensitive. Can I use Glimpse products?
Yes, Glimpse Skin Care is designed for sensitive skin. But people have different reactions to skin care products. Sometimes the products you have been using for months and years can cause a reaction when a new skin care system is introduced. If you are concerned that you may experience an adverse reaction, apply the product to the inside of your forearm prior to using it on your face, check for any signs of sensitivity.
If I could elaborate on this for just a bit… as we have received many many questions regarding those with sensitive skin and how they should use Glimpse. A test patch (as stated above) is always a good idea and suggestion for those with known sensitivities and allergies. There are some though that don’t fall into this category, as they may respond fine when doing a test patch, but could still experience sensitivity or reactivity when first using Glimpse. There are a few basic guidelines that you can follow…
1-) Introduce one product at a time. Use one Glimpse product for 7-10 days before introducing the next. We usually recommend that this be a cleanser (but that is totally personal preference). This will help the skin to gradually acclimate to the active properties of Glimpse, while slowly weaning off of the previous products and ingredients that it was accustomed to. Skin will react just as much from going off of old product(s) as much as beginning the use of new ones; especially products that are as active as Glimpse!
2-) When first introducing the more active products from the Glimpse Line (such as the Toner and Serum) it can be very helpful, initially, to mix them in with the Pericarp Oil (ideally). If the Pericarp Oil is not available, than one of the moisturizers will work well too. These suggestions will definitely help to minimize the effects that “sensitive” skin types can experience and/or perceive as negative or adverse.
3-) Make sure that when you introduce somebody to Glimpse, you are educating them (before they use it) as to what to expect and the range of “normal” reactions. Giving them options as to how to adjust the products to fit their skins needs best is always helpful and always appreciated.
And remember, using Glimpse should not be an uncomfortable experience. Encouraging people to work through more extreme “reactions” can be difficult and unfortunately, in some cases, cause them to distrust the product. That is what we are here for. Never hesitate to rely on our team for help and answers. We are always here to help you!!!
Thank you very much Jessica! If someone had very reactive skin and wanted to start with System 1, do you think it would be best to start with the Cleanser first, then the Moisturizer second, since it is less reactive? Or, mix the toner with the moisturizer on the second week?
I am about to start someone on the products who has been using chemical laden products her whole life, and who also has had skin cancer and lots of bumps on her face and scalp. I want her to experience the benefits of the products without a lot of reactions. She is just using water as a facial cleanser and moisturizer right now.
Based off of the information you have provided about her previous product use, I would definitely have her start out with the Cleanser first. Maybe have her use just the Cleanser for 7-10 days before introducing the next product. I would recommend she next introduce the Moisturizer, on it’s own, before introducing the Toner (she could do this after she uses the Moisturizer for a week or two). It sounds like she should have a pretty easy switch, being that she is currently using such a simple regimen, but I would still advise she slowly switch product lines. It’s hard to say for certain though, as these are just recommendations based off of what you have told me and without seeing her skin. That being said, please let me know if I can be of any further assistance or help… Thank you!
Have you tried using the Pericarp Oil yet? If not, I would suggest adding it in with your Glimpse Regimen. There are a couple of different ways that you could incorporate it. I would be happy to work with you on an individualized regimen; if you would like? Just let me know. Otherwise, I will include (below) some general suggestions and options. Good Luck!
1-) Mix your Glimpse Creamy Cleanser and Gel Cleanser together. This is a wonderful suggestion that I learned from Misha Hughes. I too, felt that neither cleanser was working as well as I wanted, so she suggested I mix the two together and I LOVE it!!! It’s the perfect consistency and offers a really deep clean, that is neither drying or irritating.
2-) Mix your Pericarp Oil in with your Serum. *Another brilliant suggestion from Misha!* Mix equal portions (about 2 pumps Serum and 8 drops Pericarp Oil) in the palm of your hand and apply to entire face. This will help with the feeling of dryness that you are experiencing and will help your skin to retain it’s own natural moisture over time. Follow with a layer of Moisturizing Cream once it has absorbed.
These are just a few suggestions. I hope they help. Let me know if you have any further questions or if you would like me ot work with you one on one. Thank You!
Hi Debby,
Using a good skin care regimen can help to “minimize” pores by keep dirt, debris, and oil from clogging the pores. Pores will appear smaller by keeping them cleaned out and some products do specifically help to tone and tighten pores. Glimpse was not formulated for that specific purpose, however, I have heard a few testimonials from individual whom said that they received pore minimizing benefits from Glimpse. In almost all cases they were using the Gel Cleanser, Serum, and Pericarp Oil. I don’t know if that helps, but it’s a little hard to address that question, and I want to be completely honest. I would be happy to work with you or her on an individualized regimen. Please let me know if I can be of absolutely any further assistance. Thanks so much!
To be honest, that’s a bit of a tricky question. Pore reduction is difficult to achieve (although everybody wants it).
Quick question:
I have been using the Glimpse products for almost a year now with great results. However, within the last two weeks I have misplaced my cleanser, so have just been using my last 3 steps.
I am not sure if I got the product too close to my right eye, but it has been red and puffy.
I noticed on the packaging that the Glimpse should be kept away from the eyes and I’m just concerned I may have came too close to my eye.
Hi Ann,
You could have definitely gotten it a bit too close to the eyes. If you were having an adverse or allergic reaction, you would have most likely gotten it long before now. You can actually use the products around the eye, you just want to make sure it is not seeping into the eye (which can cause irritation). Glimpse may be very clean, but it is also very active! Be careful not to get the Serum too close, and if necessary you can mix it is with whichever Glimpse Moisturizer you are using and then apply it to the eye area. The eyes can be very sensitive and skin can also, in general, fluctuate. Often times, depending on environment, stress, weather, hormones, etc. your skin can be more sensitive. Also, if you are using a cleanser that “strips” the skin a bit more, you will notice more activity (and reactivity) to the active components within Glimpse. Anyway, I hope these suggestions or feedback helped. Keep me posted… Good Luck!
I’m happy to hear that you have been experiencing great results with Glimpse! It is an amazing product.
